Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, ranked first overall for two consecutive months in the performance evaluation of 17 metropolitan local government heads (mayors and governors) nationwide. This is his third time ranking first this year.
According to the positive performance evaluation results for August announced on the 13th by the polling agency Realmeter, Governor Kim recorded a positive rating of 60.6%, an increase of 1.1 percentage points compared to last month (59.5%). He is the only local government head to surpass a 60% positive rating.
Governor Kim has maintained a top position since the survey began in August 2022, ranking 5th in positive evaluations, 3rd in August 2023, followed by 4th in March this year, 2nd in April, 1st in May, 3rd in June, and consecutively 1st in July and August.
In the nationwide satisfaction survey of residents in 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, Gyeonggi Province recorded 69%, ranking first overall.
Meanwhile, in the Realmeter party index relative score, which indicates the level of a local government head's performance evaluation compared to the party support base in their region, Governor Kim scored 111.6 points, ranking second. A comparative index above 100 means that the support base exceeds that of the conservative or Democratic Party supporters in the region.
This survey was conducted twice by Realmeter using random telephone dialing with automated response from July 27 to 30 and August 27 to September 1, targeting 13,600 men and women aged 18 and over nationwide (800 per metropolitan area for July and August). The sampling error by metropolitan area is ±3.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate is 2.2%. Detailed information can be found on the Realmeter website.
