Reducing Economic Burden with Pre-Holiday Support
Seamless Implementation through Autonomous District Budget Allocation
Seoul City will provide early payments of livelihood benefits and Seoul Didimdol Income on the 13th, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, to alleviate the economic burden on vulnerable groups. The National Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits and Seoul Didimdol Income are usually paid on the 20th of each month, and Seoul-type Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits on the 25th, but this month’s payments have been moved forward due to the Chuseok holiday.
This early payment will benefit approximately 233,000 households receiving National Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits in Seoul, about 3,800 households receiving Seoul-type Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits, and around 2,080 households receiving Seoul Didimdol Income.
The National Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits are selected for households with recognized income at or below 32% of the median income standard and who meet the support obligation criteria, providing up to 713,110 KRW for a single-person household and up to 1,833,580 KRW for a four-person household. Seoul-type Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits are selected for households with assessed income at or below 48% of the median income standard and who meet property and support obligation criteria, providing up to 356,560 KRW for a single-person household and up to 916,790 KRW for a four-person household. The Seoul Didimdol Income pilot project recruits and selects households with assessed income at or below 85% of the median income standard and who meet property criteria, paying 50% of the difference between the 85% median income standard amount and the household income, with a maximum of 947,090 KRW for a single-person household and 2,435,220 KRW for a four-person household.
Seoul City has completed budget transfers to autonomous districts for the early payment of National and Seoul-type Basic Livelihood Security livelihood benefits and has requested active cooperation to inform recipients of the early payment through text messages, phone calls, and on-site visits. Seoul Didimdol Income will be paid directly to recipients by the city without going through the autonomous districts.
Jung Sang-hoon, Director of Welfare at Seoul City, said, "By providing early payments of National and Seoul-type livelihood benefits and Seoul Didimdol Income before Chuseok, we hope to help those in need prepare for the holiday." He added, "We will ensure smooth payments through close prior cooperation with the autonomous districts."
