Conducted Fire Prevention Campaign with Safety Culture Movement Council at the End of the Event
Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, visited local traditional markets and shopping districts on the 11th and 12th.
This was to communicate with merchants and residents ahead of Chuseok and to reflect their opinions in district administration.
On the 11th, he visited ▲Banghak-dong Dokkaebi Market ▲Sindobong Market, and on the 12th, he visited ▲Changdong Sinchang Market ▲Changdong Alley Market ▲Ssangmun Market ▲Ssangmundong Dulleo Shopping District ▲Baegun Market.
Mayor Oh talked with residents shopping at the traditional markets. He also visited each store to encourage the merchants.
Mayor Oh said, “Traditional markets are much cheaper and of better quality than large supermarkets,” and added, “I will work hard to promote and publicize traditional markets.”
He then reviewed the progress of projects to revitalize traditional markets and shopping districts. Mayor Oh said, “We will continue to improve traditional markets by gathering opinions from merchants and residents.”
The district is promoting facility modernization projects and business modernization projects to break away from the existing image of traditional markets and expand the customer base. Last month, an integrated webpage was created where information on six traditional markets can be viewed at a glance.
At the end of the visit, a ‘Fire Prevention Safety Culture Campaign’ was conducted together with the Safety Culture Movement Promotion Council, Dobong Fire Station, and the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group. Mayor Oh carefully inspected firefighting facilities such as fire extinguishers in the markets and guided merchants on fire prevention methods and reporting procedures.
