A lifestyle garden featuring themed gardens and rest areas will be created in the unused space on the north side of Daejeon City Hall.
The Daejeon city government announced that the unused area on the north side of City Hall has been selected as a site for the Korea Forest Service's "2025 Lifestyle Forest Creation Project," securing 250 million KRW in national funding.
The Lifestyle Forest Creation Project aims to establish lifestyle gardens by utilizing public and multi-use facilities near residential areas to secure green spaces and reduce carbon emissions in response to climate change.
The city plans to invest 500 million KRW to create a 3,500-square-meter lifestyle garden on the north side of City Hall. The garden will feature themed sections and rest areas, transforming the space into a cultural venue where visitors can enjoy and experience beautiful gardens.
The city plans to complete the detailed design service in the first half of next year, following the budget allocation process in the second half of this year, and then begin construction.
Jeon Jaehyun, Director of Administrative Affairs at Daejeon City, said, "We will turn the northern area of City Hall into a lifestyle garden that citizens can easily access in their daily lives, providing a relaxing space with various seasonal attractions and opportunities for healing."
