First Regional Issues Council Held... Busan City and People Power Party Busan Chapter

Four Sessions on the 13th and 20th: Busan City Party of People Power Holds 'Regional Issues Cooperation Council' in Four Regions

Mayor Park Hyungjun: "We Will Open a New Era of Citizen Happiness. Requesting Full Cooperation and Support from Busan City Party"

Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon and the People Power Party Busan Metropolitan Chapter are expanding a new horizon of regional party-government cooperation through enhanced "communication and collaboration" to create a city of happiness for its citizens.

On the 13th and 20th, Busan City will hold a total of four "Regional Issues Cooperation Councils" with the People Power Party Busan Chapter, divided by region, in the video conference room at City Hall.

The council will be divided into four regions: Original Downtown, Central Busan, Eastern Busan, and Western Busan. On the 13th, the Original Downtown session will be held at 10:00 a.m., Central Busan at 2:00 p.m., and Eastern Busan at 4:00 p.m. The Western Busan session will take place at 10:00 a.m. on September 20th.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon, key city officials, and local National Assembly members including Park Sooyoung, head of the People Power Party Busan Chapter, will attend the meetings.

This council is the first meeting focused on regional issues between the city and the People Power Party Busan Chapter, organized to jointly seek solutions to the core challenges faced by each region.

Through this council, the city plans to move beyond the existing party-government cooperation system with local National Assembly members, which has mainly focused on major city issues and securing national funding, and to expand the depth and breadth of cooperation by discussing solutions to regional issues directly related to improving the quality of life for citizens.

Even before the opening of the 22nd National Assembly, Mayor Park has been building a strengthened cooperation system with the People Power Party Busan Chapter by holding a dinner meeting with elected party members (May 13), a policy briefing for aides of local People Power Party lawmakers (June 28), and a party-government council meeting (July 5).

Local National Assembly members from the People Power Party have also played a key role in proposing the "Special Act on Creating a Global Hub City" and the amendment to the "Korea Development Bank Act" as soon as the 22nd National Assembly opened, as well as reflecting the largest-ever amount of national funding for next year in the government's budget proposal.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "To truly become a city of happiness for citizens, it is most important to swiftly resolve the pressing local issues that residents want and that are directly linked to improving their quality of life. We will always prioritize these issues in our policies, strive for faster and better outcomes, and work together with local National Assembly members to usher in a new era of citizen happiness through seamless cooperation and communication. Busan stands at a critical juncture to leap forward as a 'Global Hub City.' Now is the time for the city and local National Assembly members to broaden the scope of cooperation more than ever, not only for the passage of the 'Special Act on Global Hub City' and the relocation of the Korea Development Bank, but also for the designation of the Gyeongbu Line railway underground project as a leading initiative and the additional designation of Opportunity Development Zones." He is expected to request the full cooperation and support of the People Power Party Busan Chapter for Busan's new leap forward.

Having succeeded in securing a large portion of national funding for major city projects such as the Gadeokdo New Airport and Daejeo Bridge in the government's budget proposal, the city plans to continue communication with the political community, including party-government councils, in line with the National Assembly's budget review period.
