Denies charges in court
A woman in her 20s who was prosecuted for public indecency after walking around busy areas like Apgujeong and Hongdae wearing nothing but a box and asking passersby to touch her breasts denied the charges in court.
According to Yonhap News on the 12th, the defense attorney for the woman, identified as A, argued at the first trial held under Judge Ha Jin-woo of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 22, "While we acknowledge the facts of the charges, considering the body parts exposed and the degree of exposure at the time, it cannot be regarded as an obscene act." Two others, including the head of an adult content production company who were also prosecuted, made the same claim. The court stated, "A legal evaluation of whether the act constitutes obscenity will be important," and announced that the sentencing hearing will be held on the 24th of next month. Public indecency is established when obscene acts are committed in public places causing discomfort to others.

A and others are accused of allowing passersby to touch A’s breasts inside a box in busy areas such as Apgujeong and Hongdae in Seoul between September and October last year. They recorded the scenes on video and posted them on YouTube and other platforms. A, nicknamed the "Apgujeong Box Woman" due to these acts, claimed her behavior was "a performance art and an act to break outdated sexual culture." Although A and the others denied the charges during the investigation, the prosecution, after a decision by the Prosecutors' Citizen Committee, judged that the public indecency charges were valid and indicted them. It is reported that the prosecution believed they performed this act for economic gain through promoting their YouTube channel and producing content.
Meanwhile, in October last year, A planned a fan meeting with a participation fee of 650,000 won but canceled it after controversy. At that time, she announced the cancellation through her social media accounts. A explained, "Due to intense pressure from the police, I decided to cancel the fan meeting because I was under too much stress," adding, "I refunded all 30 fans who applied and personally contacted each one to apologize." The fan meeting sold out in one day, and 79 people were unable to apply due to the first-come, first-served basis. A faced public backlash again after it became known that she announced the fan meeting while under police investigation for public indecency charges. A is known as an influencer who works as an adult film actress and model.
