Musk "I'll give you a child" sexual harassment controversy
'Furious at father' Musk's daughter "Disgusting and insulting"
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is facing controversy for making sexually harassing remarks toward global pop star Taylor Swift.
On the 11th (local time), Musk posted on his X (formerly Twitter), "Taylor, you win. I will give you a child and risk my life to protect your cat." His statement "I will give you a child" was interpreted as meaning "I will make you have a child," drawing heavy criticism online. Subsequently, Musk appeared to be aware of the controversy and deleted the post.
Earlier, on the 10th, Swift expressed support for Democratic candidate Harris on her social media following the presidential debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Harris. She stated, "I support Harris because he is fighting for citizens' rights and the greater good," and included a photo of herself holding a cat, adding, "I am a childless 'cat lady.'"
The term "cat lady" is a derogatory phrase used to describe a middle-aged single woman who raises cats instead of having children. It was used three years ago by J.D. Vance, a Republican senator and Trump's running mate, referring to Harris. The incident resurfaced and drew attention after Vance was recently nominated as the Republican vice-presidential candidate.
Musk's sexually harassing remarks have sparked widespread condemnation from netizens worldwide. Claudia Conway, daughter of Kellyanne Conway, a former White House advisor under the Trump administration, said, "It's creepy. Stop it." Even Musk's daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, expressed anger, saying, "I have no words. It's just disgusting," and described the remarks as "repulsive, insulting, and shockingly sexist." Swift's fans also reacted with outrage, saying things like, "No one would want a child resembling Musk," "This is a clear case of sexual harassment as it is a threat to impregnate," and "There is absolutely no respect for women."
