Six Safety Facility Construction Projects to Be Completed in October
Moon Jinseok, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea representing Cheonan City Gap, announced that the surface color guidance lines have been completed at two locations on the Gyeongbu Line Cheonan IC, in the directions of Seoul and Busan, respectively.
Moon Jinseok, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Cheonan-si Gap), announced on the 12th that the installation of colored road guidance lines has been completed at both the Seoul-bound and Busan-bound directions of the Cheonan IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway.
Colored road guidance lines are installed on road surfaces at intersections, interchanges (IC), and junctions to provide clear lane guidance and direct drivers' attention. It is known that the installation of these lines at interchanges can reduce accidents by up to 40%.
There had been continuous complaints regarding the lack of colored road guidance lines at Cheonan IC, and Moon Jinseok had requested the Korea Expressway Corporation to install these lines.
The Korea Expressway Corporation began the installation at Cheonan IC and completed the work on the 11th, just before the Chuseok holiday period.
Additionally, the Korea Expressway Corporation reported to Moon Jinseok's office that, along with the colored road guidance lines, it would complete a traffic safety facility improvement project by October to address concerns about traffic accidents at the diverging section of the Cheonan Tollgate (TG) exit plaza.
The improvements to be completed by October include: △reorganization of the safety zone and lanes in the plaza △installation of additional Hi-Pass lane guide signs △road surface markings guiding entry and exit in the plaza △maximum speed limit signs (30km/h) △illuminated speed limit signs on the deceleration lane (50km/h) △installation of mobile speed enforcement cameras, and more.
Furthermore, road surface leveling work, including sectional repair of the concrete section at Cheonan Tollgate, is scheduled to be carried out in September.
Moon Jinseok stated, "I am very pleased that the installation of colored road guidance lines, which many citizens have hoped for, has been completed," and added, "If there is anything that causes inconvenience to citizens, I will take the lead in resolving it."
