Efforts to Create a Pleasant and Safe Tourist Complex

Busan Metropolitan City Corporation (BMC) has completed environmental maintenance of the parks and green spaces within the Osiria Tourism Complex.

This project was carried out to provide a pleasant and beautiful urban landscape for visitors returning to their hometown for Chuseok and for those visiting the tourism complex ahead of the holiday.

From the 2nd to the 12th of this month, BMC conducted weed removal, lawn mowing, and vine clearing across all parks and green spaces within the Osiria Tourism Complex that have not yet been transferred.

Currently, BMC manages about 200,000㎡ of parks and green spaces within the tourism complex, out of a total of approximately 300,000㎡. This environmental maintenance focused on sections of the 'Osiria Coastal Walkway' and the 'Osiria Waterfront Park,' which received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the 2019 Korea Landscape Awards, as well as the 'Osiria Ecological Forest,' which won the Grand Prize (Minister of Environment Award) at the 2021 Natural Environment Awards.

To ensure a safe working environment, BMC provided training for workers on precautions against stinging insects, the use of safety gear, and protection against flying debris. In addition, various efforts were made to minimize inconvenience for visitors and prevent accidents, such as conducting work during early morning hours.

Moving forward, BMC plans to replace dead trees and repair old or damaged facilities in parks and green spaces within the tourism complex that have not yet been transferred. Furthermore, for efficient maintenance and user convenience, BMC will closely coordinate with Busan City and Gijang-gun to smoothly complete the administrative procedures for transferring facility management.

Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation, stated, "We completed environmental maintenance before the Chuseok holiday to provide a more pleasant and safe landscaped space for returning visitors and tourists to the Osiria Tourism Complex during the holiday. We will continue our efforts to enhance the quality of the tourism complex and provide a comfortable resting space for users through ongoing maintenance."
