"Only a Warning Issued Despite Confirmation of Violations"

People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD) strongly criticized the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) on the 12th for its audit results regarding allegations of illegal activities related to the relocation of the presidential office and residence, stating, "We condemn the BAI for wasting two years, mocking the public, and only catering to the president's interests."

On the same day, PSPD held a press conference in front of the main gate of the BAI in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and disclosed the audit report that uncovered misconduct by senior officials of the Presidential Security Service during the construction process of the presidential office and residence.

PSPD stated, "Although the BAI confirmed numerous illegal activities, it merely issued warnings to the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Presidential Security Service," adding, "The background and process of selecting the contractor responsible for the presidential residence construction only intensified suspicions."

PSPD said, "The BAI's announcement of the audit results came after PSPD and citizens requested a national audit and the audit period was extended seven times unprecedentedly," and "They failed to clarify crucial suspicions that should have been verified, such as whether First Lady Kim Keon-hee was involved in the contract process or if there were any preferential treatments."

PSPD pointed out, "It seems the BAI gave a clean bill of health to the rushed and forced relocation of the residence, which President Yoon Suk-yeol personally led," and criticized, "The BAI virtually did not audit the decision-making process for relocating the presidential office, raising doubts about whether they had any intention to thoroughly investigate."

PSPD declared, "We will continue follow-up actions, including filing complaints to hold those responsible for wrongful and illegal acts accountable, together with citizens," and vowed, "We will not stop until the suspicions surrounding the relocation of the presidential office and residence to Yongsan are fully resolved."
