A 22-month-old baby who lost consciousness due to heat cramps was safely transported and treated with the help of the police.

The Yeouido Police Substation of the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul received a 112 emergency call on the 26th of last month reporting that "the baby is not breathing." The parents were on their way to the hospital with the baby, but due to severe traffic congestion during rush hour causing delays, they requested police assistance.

Upon receiving the report, the officers urgently transferred the baby to the patrol car and turned on the siren, announcing "Transporting an emergency patient," as they drove. Recognizing the situation, drivers on the road immediately yielded and made way. The patrol car took advantage of the space cleared by the vehicles and arrived at the hospital in just three minutes, allowing the baby to receive treatment without major complications.

Sergeant Oh Chi-hyung, who transported the baby at the time, recalled, "I parked the patrol car about 20 meters away and ran over to find the baby cradled in the mother's arms. However, there was no response at all." He added, "I felt it was not a situation where we could wait for the 119 rescue team, and since it was rush hour, it would take too long." He also said, "Seeing the baby regain consciousness and survive made me truly proud." It is known that the baby's parents visited the police station on the 5th and expressed their gratitude, saying, "The baby was in a very dangerous condition because they had both hand, foot, and mouth disease and tonsillitis," and "We are truly thankful to the police officers who helped us."

Netizens who heard the story responded with comments such as, "I'm so relieved the baby is safe," "The drivers who cleared the congested road, the police officers who urgently transported the baby, and the parents who did not forget to express their gratitude are all admirable," "It's heartwarming to hear such good news after a long time," and "It feels like humanity has been recharged."
