Five Locations Including Gosam, Geumgwang, Chilgok, Yongsul, and Cheongryong Lake
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct intensive guidance and inspections on private sewage treatment facilities installed around five lakes within the city for five weeks from the 25th of this month to the 31st of next month to continuously preserve the water quality environment of public water bodies.
The targeted areas for this guidance and inspection are Gosam Lake, Geumgwang Lake, Chilgok Lake, Yongseol Lake, and Cheongryong Lake. The city plans to focus on guiding and inspecting large-capacity private sewage treatment facilities such as restaurants and lodging businesses that generate a large amount of wastewater.
The main items for guidance and inspection include ▲whether the private sewage treatment facilities are operating normally ▲compliance with discharge water quality standards ▲proper sludge treatment ▲cleaning and disinfection inside the facilities. Minor issues found during the guidance and inspection will be corrected, but serious violations such as failure to operate private sewage treatment facilities without justifiable reasons will be subject to fines and administrative measures according to the provisions of the Sewerage Act.
Yoon Byung-seon, head of the Sewerage Division of Anseong City, said, "We will prevent water pollution through continuous guidance and inspection of private sewage treatment facilities."
