Chungnam Seafood Products Achieve $15.65 Million in Export Consultations at Australian International Food Expo

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Chungnam have expanded their market reach all the way to Australia.

According to Chungnam Province on the 12th, Fine Food Australia 2024, the largest food expo in Australia, was recently held in Melbourne. Celebrating its 40th edition this year, the event featured 850 companies from 12 countries, including the United States, Taiwan, and Germany.

From Chungnam, six SMEs in the seafood sector participated, showcasing products such as anchovies, soy sauce seaweed, gimbap seaweed, pen shell adductor muscles, pen shell adductor muscle seaweed soup, pen shell ramen, and stick gamjaban.

As a result, they achieved export consultations totaling 90 cases worth 15.65 million dollars, with six contracts amounting to 6.13 million dollars signed on-site.

Among the seafood products, pen shell adductor muscles and stick gimjaban received enthusiastic responses from buyers. In particular, pen shell adductor muscles were recognized for their superior quality compared to locally distributed scallop adductor muscles.

Prior to the expo, the province facilitated multiple rounds of cross-verification between companies and buyers to identify customized buyers for each company. At the expo, Chungnam operated a joint promotional booth, providing active support that was well received by participating companies.

Kim Changtae, head of the Provincial Fisheries Industry Division, stated, "We will continue to support export activation by discovering new overseas markets and exhibition programs," adding, "Together with Chungnam Technopark, we will systematically support the export process, including additional consultations between companies and buyers."

Previously, export consultations held in Taiwan and Vietnam in June resulted in export contracts totaling 3.8 million dollars and 1.7 million dollars, respectively, with six contracts each.
