Ulsan City to Review and Adjust 8th Term Pledges... In Citizens' Hands

Formation of Resident Jury, Direct Deliberation and Proposal of Alternatives

Ulsan City will form and operate the "2024 Citizen Jury" to review the progress of the 8th popularly elected administration's pledges and to prepare alternatives.

On the 12th at 1:30 PM, Ulsan City will hold the "First Citizen Jury Meeting" at the Citizens' Hall on the first floor of the City Council to review the implementation of the 8th administration's pledges.

The Citizen Jury meeting will be hosted by the private organization Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters to ensure transparency and objectivity in the process. About 60 people, including Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyodae, citizen jurors, and officials from the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, will attend the meeting.

The event will proceed in the order of education on the true pledges (manifestos) and understanding of the citizen jury system, awarding of appointment certificates, and group discussions. The "Citizen Jury" consists of 50 final members, selected by random drawing among Ulsan citizens aged 18 or older, based on proportional representation by region, gender, and age.

By October 2, they will hold three meetings, including education, deliberation, and group discussions on the review of the 8th administration's pledges. They will deliberate on the details of the pledge projects, annual goals, and implementation timelines.

Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyodae said, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the valuable opinions of citizens derived from the citizen jury meetings are well reflected in the implementation plans, so that citizens can truly feel the results of the projects."

Currently, with the launch of the 8th Ulsan administration, the city is pursuing 100 pledge projects under the vision of "Creating a Great New Ulsan," based on five goals and 20 strategies.
