Regions with Heavy Rain
Southern and Jeju Areas Feel Around 33 Degrees
On Thursday the 12th, rain will fall in most parts of the country, easing the heatwave in some areas.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 11th, after rain falls nationwide on the 12th, it will mostly stop during the day in Jeju Island, in the afternoon in the southern regions, and in the evening in the central regions. Rain is forecast to continue until late at night in northern Gyeonggi and northwestern Gangwon Yeongseo.
Expected precipitation amounts are 20-60mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, northern Chungnam, and northern Chungbuk (with more than 80mm in northern Gyeonggi), 10-60mm in Jeju Island (with more than 80mm in the southern mid-mountain and mountainous areas), 10-40mm in Daejeon, Sejong, southern Chungnam, and central and southern Chungbuk, 5-40mm in Jeolla and Gyeongsang regions, and 5-30mm in northern Jeju Island.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, and the northern Chungnam west coast, there will be places with heavy rain of around 30mm per hour between dawn and morning.
The morning low temperatures are forecast to be between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius. The daytime highs in the central regions will be somewhat lower than the previous day, with Seoul at 29 degrees, Incheon at 28 degrees, and Daejeon at 31 degrees.
However, the scorching heat will continue in some areas. The highest apparent temperatures will rise to around 33 degrees Celsius mainly in the southern regions and Jeju Island, making it very hot. In some parts of the Gyeongnam region, the highest apparent temperature will soar up to 35 degrees Celsius.
In the Gangwon mountainous areas, dense fog will form due to low clouds, reducing visibility to below 200 meters, so caution is advised for traffic safety.
There will be gusts and thunder and lightning in most maritime areas. The waves are expected to be 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the East Sea nearshore, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea and South Sea nearshore. The wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea and South Sea.
