The Russian military announced that it has recaptured 10 villages in Kursk, its own territory that had fallen to the Ukrainian forces.
According to major foreign media including TASS on the 11th (local time), Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat Special Forces of the Chechen Republic in Russia, said, "A total of 10 villages in the Kursk region were liberated yesterday and today," adding, "The situation is favorable for us."
The Ukrainian forces launched an offensive in Kursk, a southwestern border area of Russia, starting from the 6th of last month, capturing parts of Russian territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this attack resulted in control over about 100 villages spanning approximately 1,300 km² in Kursk.
Alaudinov, who also serves as the Deputy Director of Military-Political Affairs at the Russian Ministry of Defense, is leading the Akhmat unit in the Kursk battle. He said, "The enemy has suffered many casualties and is realizing that it is difficult to hold this land."
According to major foreign media, pro-Russian military bloggers such as Yuri Podolyaka, Livar, and Tumeizors reported that the Russian military launched a significant counteroffensive in Kursk.
Podolyaka stated on his blog that the Russian forces pushed the Ukrainian troops east of the Malaya Loknya River in Kursk and took control of the western part of the territory they had occupied.
