Ahead of Chuseok, Visits to Social Welfare Facility Rodem House and Masan Fish Market Continue
Hong Nam-pyo, the Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, has been actively engaging with citizens on-site ahead of Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday.
Changwon Special City announced that on the 11th, ahead of the major national holiday Hangawi, Mayor Hong began on-site communication by consecutively visiting Rodem House, a local social welfare facility, and Masan Fish Market.
During his first visit of the day to Rodem House, Mayor Hong toured the facility, listened to explanations about its current status, communicated with the staff, and expressed his gratitude for their dedicated work under challenging circumstances.
Rodem House is operated by the Masan Diocese Catholic Church Foundation and, since its opening in 2003, has provided counseling, therapy, and vocational training to teenage girls marginalized by society, supporting them to grow into healthy women.
Next, during his visit to Masan Fish Market, Mayor Hong offered words of encouragement and comfort to each and every vendor in the produce market, who have been struggling due to a recent fire. He also personally purchased Chuseok holiday goods while walking through the market, using the opportunity to communicate not only with the vendors but also with citizens visiting the market.
Mayor Hong stated, "To alleviate the hardship faced by vendors during this difficult time caused by the fire, the city will continue to implement various support policies, including prompt recovery efforts and ongoing campaigns to boost consumption," and added, "I hope that many Changwon citizens will use Masan Fish Market so that the local economy can be revitalized."
Meanwhile, before the Chuseok holiday, Mayor Hong plans to visit traditional markets, welfare facilities, military units, and hospitals to encourage the revitalization of traditional markets and offer support to marginalized groups, military personnel, and medical staff.
