Mayor Park Hyeongdeok's Campaign Promise Bears Fruit... Secures 7.5 Billion Won in Provincial Subsidies
Development Established in Dongducheon-si, Sangbongam-dong, San 18 Area
Park Hyung-deok, mayor of Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province, has seen the pet theme park, which he has focused on since the beginning of the 8th term of the local government, come to fruition.
On the 11th, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon announced through the preemptive promotion plan of the 'Gyeonggi Northern Region Grand Renovation Project' that Dongducheon City was selected as the site for the 'Northern Region Pet Theme Park.'
By being selected for this pet theme park contest project, Dongducheon City secured 7.5 billion KRW in provincial funding.
The 'Northern Region Pet Theme Park Development Project' is a project to create a complex cultural space where residents can enjoy leisure and recreation with their pets, based on animal protection and welfare.
Gyeonggi Province already has pet theme parks in the eastern region (Yeoju), western region (Hwaseong), and southern region (Osan), and this time Dongducheon City was selected as the fourth in the northern region.
The Dongducheon City pet theme park development project is a pledge of both the 8th term Dongducheon mayor and the Gyeonggi governor, and will include pet culture facilities, an adoption center, an agility playground, walking trails, and camping facilities in the area of San 18, Sangbongam-dong, Dongducheon City.
Through this, Dongducheon City plans to contribute to revitalizing local tourism by providing tourist facilities that can be enjoyed not only by pet owners but also by non-pet owners.
Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon City said, “In connection with the expansion development project of Soyo Mountain, we will create a pet theme park together with Gyeonggi Province at the foothills of Soyo Mountain in Dongducheon City, which has excellent location advantages such as natural environment and convenient transportation, making it a popular tourist destination,” and added, “We expect this project to play a significant role in the development of Dongducheon City.”
