Emergency Deployment of Support Staff to 3 Special Classes from September with 13 Million Won Budget
Roles Include Safety Guidance, School Adaptation, Equipment Assistance, and Class Support
Guaranteeing Learning Rights for Special Education Students... Expansion Planned for Next Year
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has provided assistant personnel to three elementary schools in the area to ensure the learning rights of students in special classes.
The special class assistant personnel support project is designed to help improve the learning abilities and school life adaptation of special education students attending special classes in regular schools. It targets individuals with physical and mental difficulties such as visual impairment, hearing impairment, and intellectual disabilities who are recognized as needing special education.
Gwangjin-gu has 21 elementary schools, 13 middle schools, and 9 high schools. Among them, 15 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 2 high schools operate special classes.
Starting in July, after a thorough survey, the district provided 13 million won to three elementary school special classes urgently in need of assistant personnel, deploying six assistants from September.
The assistant personnel will perform roles such as ▲ guidance on health and safety, ▲ support for school adaptation, ▲ assistance with equipment use, ▲ support for classes and teaching, and ▲ communication and social skills training.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This project was established to meet the individual educational needs of special class students and support high-quality educational activities. We plan to further expand and promote it next year so that students can learn in better environments. We will continue to do our best to ensure that all students receive education without discrimination.”
The district is also striving to provide high-quality educational services by supporting a total of over 330 million won to 18 elementary schools and 8 middle schools in the area through the Educational Activity Coordination Project.
