Global pet food company Royal Canin Korea announced on the 6th that Chen Junzhi, Minister of Agriculture of Taiwan, visited the Royal Canin Gimje Plant located in Gimje City, Jeollabuk-do Special Autonomous Province.

The Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture is a government agency that oversees and develops Taiwan's agriculture and food industries, responsible for promoting the health and welfare of the public through the establishment of agricultural policies and the management of production and distribution of agricultural products. It also oversees the pet industry.

This visit was part of the Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture's efforts to develop the pet food industry, aimed at exploring advanced facilities of global pet food companies and meeting with stakeholders to discuss the importance of pet food safety and ways to strengthen it.

Since its opening in 2018, the Royal Canin Gimje Plant has rapidly grown, breaking export records every year. Equipped with outstanding production technology in the pet food industry, the Gimje Plant currently supplies pet food to nine countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Meanwhile, the Royal Canin Gimje Plant has started an expansion project this year with an investment of 250 billion KRW to double its current production capacity. Through this, Royal Canin Korea plans not only to contribute to the local community by hiring new personnel but also to continuously increase export countries and establish itself as a central hub for pet food production in the Asia-Pacific region.
