US Major Semiconductor Companies Request Support for Osan Investment Attraction

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced that Mayor Lee Kwon-jae, who is visiting the United States for investment attraction activities, visited the KOTRA Silicon Valley Trade Center located in San Jose, California on the 10th (local time) and requested support for attracting local semiconductor companies to Osan.

During the visit attended by officials from Osan City's Economic and Cultural Bureau, Mayor Lee and his delegation held a meeting with key officials including Kwon Oh-hyung, the head of the KOTRA Silicon Valley Trade Center. At the meeting, Mayor Lee promoted Osan's geopolitical advantages to KOTRA and requested that Osan be recommended when semiconductor-related companies wish to invest in Korea.

Mayor Lee said, "I hope this visit will serve as an opportunity to establish a partnership between the KOTRA Silicon Valley Trade Center and Osan City and to foster mutual cooperation."

He also revealed plans to propose to Gyeonggi Province, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) the creation of a 300,000-pyeong advanced techno valley near the planned Segyo 3 District site during the meeting.

Following the KOTRA visit, Mayor Lee also visited the Korean American Semiconductor Association of Silicon Valley (KASASV) and held a casual meeting. The meeting was attended by Simon Lee, president of KASASV, and Koo Bohwan, president of Lake Materials America.

Mayor Lee expressed, "I hope to build a partnership between Osan City and KASASV and continue discussions on investment attraction." President Lee responded, "If there are companies related to the 4th industrial revolution in Silicon Valley that desire the conditions Osan offers, I will actively recommend Osan."
