The prosecution has requested a prison sentence for Lee Mo (53), the sister-in-law of broadcaster Park Suhong (54), who was indicted for spreading false information related to Park's private life.

On the 11th, the prosecution asked Judge Kang Young-gi of the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 9 to sentence Lee to 10 months in prison during the trial.

The prosecution stated, "This case involves defamation by making fatal false statements about a celebrity victim to several acquaintances in a chat room where information spreads easily, so the nature of the crime is not light." They added, "Please consider that Lee denies the crime and shows no remorse, and that Park strongly hopes for severe punishment."

Lee's defense attorney claimed innocence, saying, "There was no intention to slander the victim." The attorney explained, "The defendant spoke to acquaintances based on a combination of what she directly witnessed and stories heard from her parents-in-law, believed them to be true, and had substantial reasons to believe so."

Earlier, Lee was brought to trial on charges of spreading false information about Park in a KakaoTalk group chat, including claims that "Park Suhong lived with a woman in the past." According to the prosecution, Lee posted messages in the KakaoTalk group denying Park's allegations that she and her husband embezzled funds, and also claimed that Park lived with a woman during his broadcasting career.

The final sentencing for Lee is scheduled for 10:00 AM on October 23.

Meanwhile, Park Mo (56), Lee's husband and Park Suhong's older brother, who was in charge of managing his younger brother's career, was found guilty of embezzling over 2 billion won of corporate funds and was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial.
