Taylor Swift "Supports Minju Harris"... 'Likes' Quickly Surpass 3 Million

"Knows Well About Trump Fake AI Photo Incident"
"Must Transparently Disclose Plans as a Voter"

Taylor Swift, currently considered one of the most popular pop singers in the United States, has publicly endorsed Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate. Her Instagram post quickly garnered over 3 million likes, demonstrating her overwhelming presence. Attention is also focused on the potential impact this may have on the upcoming presidential election.

On the 11th (Korean time), Swift wrote on her personal Instagram account, "Like many of you here, I watched the presidential debate today," and began, "Now is the time to carefully examine the issues and topics discussed by the presidential candidates."

She continued, "As a voter, I read and review the policies proposed by the candidates every day," adding, "I am also aware of the incident where Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, saw a fake AI image of me and mistakenly posted that 'Swift supports Trump.'"

Swift explained, "The dangers of AI and the spread of fake news reminded me of my fears," and said, "This incident led me to the conclusion that, as a voter, I need to transparently disclose my actual plans in this election." The AI image controversy influenced her decision.

Swift stated, "I will cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election," adding, "The reason I vote is because Harris fights for rights and causes. I believe we need warriors to fight for those things."

She also expressed being impressed by Harris’s choice of Tim Walz as her running mate. She said, "Walz has long been an advocate for LGBTQ rights, in vitro fertilization, and women's rights over their own bodies."

Along with this post, Swift shared a photo holding a cat and included the signature "Childless Cat lady." This is interpreted as a pointed action toward JD Vance, the vice-presidential candidate running with Trump. Vance previously sparked controversy by disparaging childless women by likening them to "cat ladies."

Meanwhile, Swift had supported Democratic candidates in Tennessee in 2018 and expressed support for President Joe Biden in the last presidential election. However, given Swift’s popularity across political lines, there was much speculation about whom she would support in this election. In fact, the number of likes on her post surpassed 3 million within just one hour.

Regarding this, the U.S. daily newspaper The New York Times (NYT) explained, "Swift is one of the few celebrities with widespread support," and noted, "She is currently at the final stages of a world tour that has sold out globally."
