Welcome Ceremony for Paris Paralympic Silver Medalist Kwon Hyokyung Hosted by Hongseong County Office

Kwon Hyogyeong, a member of the wheelchair fencing team at the Hongseong County Office in Chungnam, received a warm welcome in her hometown after winning a silver medal at the Paralympics for the first time in 36 years.

On the 11th, Hongseong County held a welcoming ceremony and presented Kwon with a flower necklace and a reward of 2 million won.

On the 6th, Kwon won the silver medal in the individual epee event at the Paris Paralympics, defeating athletes from the United States, France, and Hungary.

This medal is especially meaningful as it is the first achievement in Korean wheelchair fencing in 36 years since the 1988 Seoul Paralympics.

Kwon said, "I am very happy to have won the silver medal after 36 years, and I sincerely thank everyone who supported me. This Paris Paralympics was a great challenge for me, and I am proud that I was able to achieve a good result by doing my best until the end."
