Visit to Yongin Jungang Market, Childcare Facilities, and Households Facing Housing Crisis
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced that ahead of the Chuseok holiday, he visited traditional markets including Yongin Jungang Market, child care facilities, and emergency support housing for vulnerable households on the 10th to inspect the livelihood sites.
On that day, Mayor Lee, accompanied by his wife Kim Mi-young, visited Yongin Jungang Market and spent about 40 minutes visiting stores and the folk five-day market, personally shopping. At the market, he purchased peanuts, gangjeong (traditional Korean sweets), shiitake mushrooms, sesame and perilla oils, sesame seeds, rice cakes, fruits, jeon (Korean pancakes), and fried chicken, greeting merchants and citizens individually, saying, "I hope you have a prosperous and joyful Chuseok holiday," and listened to the merchants' difficulties.

After shopping, Mayor Lee, along with the market merchants' association and officials from the Livelihood Economy Division, conducted a campaign to promote the use of traditional markets and stabilize local prices. In particular, at the market entrance, he also participated in the 'Gas Safety Inspection Day' campaign together with 40 city gas safety inspectors.
On the same day, Mayor Lee visited the child care facility 'Seonhan Samariawon' located in Namsa-myeon, Cheoin-gu, where he shared Chuseok food with the children and played traditional folk games, encouraging the resident children and facility staff. Established in 1963, Seonhan Samariawon is a facility where children who have difficulty being raised at home live, currently housing 35 children.
Mayor Lee toured various parts of the facility including living quarters, dining hall, and playground, checking for any inconveniences. At the site, he said, "I hope you work hard to achieve the dreams you are nurturing, and I will also do my best to support you."

On the same day, Mayor Lee visited emergency support housing located in Gorim-dong, Cheoin-gu, to inspect the inconveniences faced by resident families. Emergency support housing provides temporary shelter for vulnerable households who have lost their homes due to forced eviction or fire. The city operates two such houses in Gorim-dong and Gugaldong, Giheung-gu, through a partnership with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), leasing them free of charge as emergency support housing. The city supports tenants by covering the deposit and rent, excluding public utility fees such as management fees and electricity bills.
At the site, Mayor Lee personally checked on the inconveniences of Mr. A, who has been residing there for four months, and instructed city officials to ensure a comfortable stay until the day of his departure.
Mayor Lee told Mr. A, who is scheduled to move to public rental housing in October, "I hope the temporary shelter provided by the city has offered you some recovery and comfort," and added, "If you need help with moving, we will support you with a courtesy vehicle."
