Sharing Achievements in Strengthening Field-Oriented Policy Capabilities
The 'Creating a Barrier-Free Yangsan' 2024 Core Personnel Capacity Building Project, promoted by Yangsan City and the Yangsan Welfare Foundation, held a results sharing session at the Yangsan Business Center on the 10th.
'Creating a Barrier-Free Yangsan' is a project in which key personnel from both the private and public sectors gather to identify and resolve the daily difficulties faced by socially disadvantaged groups who encounter invisible barriers in Yangsan. This year, the project collaborated with Hope Institute, a private policy development think tank, to strengthen the capacity of key personnel for policy discovery and proposal.
The TF team, composed of core personnel from five areas?persons with disabilities, the elderly, youth, women and children/youth, and safe city?conducted a total of four official events, including the 1st and 2nd workshops, a benchmarking visit, and a results sharing session over four months from May to September. In addition, through an online open chatroom, they carried out team-specific missions and tasks prior to the workshops, held internal meetings, kept activity records, conducted interviews with stakeholders, organized online briefings and task feedback sessions, and rehearsed face-to-face presentations with mentoring for the results sharing session. Despite the short period, they continued the capacity-building process through these challenging steps.
This results sharing session was an opportunity to present the outcomes of each TF team's activities to citizens, not only enhancing understanding of the project but also providing a chance for all citizens to reflect on and reconsider the barriers within the city.
Mayor Na Dongyeon said, "Through the 'Creating a Barrier-Free Yangsan' project, which will be carried out over four years starting from 2023, Yangsan City is striving to become a city where everyone can live safely in harmony with diversity," and added, "I hope many citizens will participate so that we can continue to move forward as a city that constantly seeks new ideas for such a future."
