LG Electronics announced on the 11th that it held the ‘LG Software Developer Conference 2024 (LG SDC 2024)’ on the 9th and 10th at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, to facilitate technical exchange and communication among software developers.
The conference was organized by the LG SW Council, which includes LG affiliates. Since last year, the conference has been held as part of 'LG SPARK,' a cultural and innovative art festival hosted at LG Science Park. LG SPARK is an event that symbolizes igniting the spark of innovation together with various external partners.
Under the theme of 'Creating the Future Together,' the conference featured technical presentations in eight fields: AI/Big Data, Mobility/Automotive, Platform/Architecture, Cloud, Emerging Tech, SW Technology/Development Culture, SW Security, and SW Management. More than 2,500 participants, including software researchers from LG affiliates and developers from global big tech companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Qualcomm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Palantir, shared technology and development know-how.
Executives in charge of software development from LG Electronics, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, and LG CNS delivered a series of keynote speeches introducing AI application cases across various business areas. Kim Jae-cheol, Executive Director of the AI Research Institute at LG Electronics’ CTO Division, attracted attention by introducing the LG Electronics Vision AI Universal Model under development during his keynote speech. Unlike previous approaches where vision AI technology was developed separately for each product, this model offers high versatility by utilizing various recognition technologies such as object recognition and classification, human posture recognition, and 3D distance measurement. It is applied across diverse business sectors including home, mobility, and commercial fields, enhancing product development efficiency and shortening development time.
Subsequent presentations introduced the latest software technology application cases in the three major growth engines for LG Electronics’ leap to become a 'Smart Life Solution Company' that connects and expands customers’ diverse spaces and experiences: Non-Hw, B2B, and new business sectors.
At this conference, LG Electronics introduced new programs such as a project management competition and a kernel developer technical exchange meeting. These programs aim to improve complex project management capabilities by solving problems that may arise during software development projects and to share trends in kernel-related technologies, which are core to operating systems, among domestic kernel experts.
Park In-sung, Head of the SW Center at LG Electronics’ CTO Division, said, "We hope this conference will be an opportunity to share innovations driven by the latest technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and on-device AI across different business sectors," adding, "We will provide better customer experiences through bold technological advances centered on core technologies in each software area."
