Replacing Aging Facilities and Planting Various Flowers with Different Blooming Periods to Create an Urban Oasis
Four-Season Changing Flower Path Garden to Serve as a Bridgehead for Revitalizing Dohwa-dong Alley Commercial Area
On the 10th, Mapo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Gang-su) held a completion ceremony for the newly created Dohwa-dong ‘Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Park Flower Path Garden.’
At the event, 150 people including District Mayor Park Gang-su, city and district council members, and residents attended to tour the garden and celebrate its completion.
This park is a space revitalizing the alley commercial area by transforming the existing Boksakkot Children's Park into a resting place where residents can enjoy culture, leisure, and relaxation.
The existing Boksakkot Children's Park, located in a residential area and close to a subway station, had outdated and unorganized landscaping.
After confirming this through the on-site district mayor’s office, Mapo-gu renovated the old facilities and reshaped the park to become a resting place where residents can comfortably heal throughout all four seasons.
First, the Flower Path Garden planted 11,850 flowers of 15 species with different blooming periods so that visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature all year round.
Additionally, new benches and rest facilities were installed for relaxation in nature, and angel benches, heart photo zones, and rose art fences were prepared to offer various pleasures to residents, allowing couples and families to create memories together.
In particular, palm mats were installed in neglected green areas so residents can enjoy walking barefoot.
District Mayor Park Gang-su said, “I hope people find a moment of relaxation and forget daily stress while walking through the newly created Flower Path Garden,” adding, “I expect the Flower Path Garden, which changes beautifully through all four seasons, to become a new source of vitality for the Dohwa-dong alley commercial area.”
Meanwhile, the newly opened Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Park Flower Path Garden will host the Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Festival on September 28 under the slogan ‘Let’s Walk Only on the Flower Path.’
The festival will feature various experience programs, a flea market, food stalls, and performances by invited singers and performers, enhancing the autumn atmosphere.
