Attention on Whether Prosecutors Will Release Investigation Message
Former President Moon Jae-in will attend public events on the theme of 'Peace on the Korean Peninsula' on the 19th and 20th of this month.
The '2024 Korean Peninsula Peace Joint Project Promotion Committee,' which is organizing the event, announced in a press release on the 10th that former President Moon will attend the 6th anniversary ceremony of the September 19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju on the 19th.
At the ceremony, former President Moon will deliver a message titled 'Greeting of Peace.'
Im Jong-seok, former Chief of Staff to the President and the preparatory chairman of the 2018 inter-Korean summit, will give a commemorative speech. Congratulatory remarks are also scheduled from National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik, Cho Kuk, leader of the Innovation Party, and Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, as well as a video congratulatory message from Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
On the 20th, former President Moon will attend the 'Jeonnam Peace Conference' held at the Hyundai Hotel in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, where he will deliver a keynote speech on peace on the Korean Peninsula and related topics.
However, some in the political sphere are focusing on what former President Moon might say regarding the recent prosecution investigation into his family. It is known that during a meeting with Lee Jae-myung, who visited his residence in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan, Gyeongnam, on the 8th, Moon responded to Lee’s criticism of the prosecution investigation as 'political oppression' by saying, "It is something that my family and I will bear," but he has not made any direct statements to the media or others.
