A consortium of universities in the Seongnam area of Gyeonggi Province has been launched.

On the 10th, Gachon University announced that four universities located in the Seongnam area held the inauguration ceremony of the 'Seongnam Area University Consortium' at Gachon University and resolved to take an active lead in regional innovation in Gyeonggi Province.

The universities participating in the inauguration ceremony were Gachon University, Eulji University, Dong Seoul University, and Shingu University.

The presidents of the four universities stated in a joint declaration that they would actively promote ▲ the formation of a regional innovation cluster to foster co-growth and innovation between the region and universities ▲ participation in the Gyeonggi-do RISE regional specialization project based on cooperation among local governments, universities, and regional industries ▲ strengthening the sharing and cooperation of university resources such as laboratories and practice rooms ▲ and enhancing partnerships among local governments, universities, and regional industries to nurture innovative talent in the region.

They also agreed to develop the Seongnam Area University Consortium into the 'Seongnam Regional Innovation Platform' (tentative name), which would include Seongnam City, related organizations, and local industries such as Pangyo Techno Valley and Seongnam High-Tech Valley, to mutually cooperate in leading regional development and innovation through collaboration among government, industry, and academia.

The presidents of the four universities promised, "Although universities cultivate high-level research capabilities and practical talents in various fields of study, they have not been active in regional development. From now on, we will contribute to regional development through active cooperation among local governments, universities, and regional industries."
