DL E&C announced on the 10th that it has hired people with disabilities as on-site closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring personnel. DL E&C is currently recruiting additional monitoring personnel to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities and to prevent safety accidents at construction sites.
Currently, there are 20 people with disabilities working as CCTV monitoring personnel at DL E&C sites. They were hired through recommendations from the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled and recruitment announcements, and after completing two weeks of job training related to construction site safety, they are performing their duties. Two monitoring personnel are assigned per site, monitoring safety deficiencies in real time via CCTV from their homes, and reporting any unusual incidents to the headquarters' integrated control center.
The monitoring personnel focus on closely observing unsafe behaviors of workers such as not wearing safety helmets and using mobile phones during work, as well as unsafe site conditions like insufficient safety distance from heavy equipment and risks of falling objects. The reports from the monitoring personnel are immediately communicated to the site through headquarters, and necessary measures are taken.
DL E&C currently estimates the monitoring accuracy of CCTV personnel to be about 90%, judging it effective in preventing safety accidents, and plans to expand the application to more sites. Additionally, to improve monitoring accuracy, DL E&C plans to strengthen safety-related job training for monitoring personnel and expand the functions of site CCTV cameras and monitoring coverage.
A DL E&C official stated, "The monitoring accuracy of the personnel is higher than expected, making it effective in preventing safety accidents and reducing the workload of on-site safety managers. We are providing more opportunities for people with disabilities who face employment restrictions due to limited mobility and reducing safety blind spots at sites, so we are continuing additional recruitment."
