Rep. Song Dae-yoon: "Systematic Safety Education Expected to Prevent Accidents"
The 'Daejeon Office of Education Ordinance on Strengthening Safety Education for Personal Mobility Devices,' proposed by Councilor Song Daeyoon (The Minjoo Party of Korea, Yuseong District Constituency 2) of the Daejeon City Council, was passed as originally drafted by the standing committee on the 10th.
The ordinance stipulates that the Superintendent of Education must establish a safety education plan for students' use of personal mobility devices and conduct surveys and education to ensure their safety.
Additionally, school principals are required to guide students to wear personal protective gear when commuting to and from school, and the Superintendent is authorized to provide administrative and financial support to schools if necessary.
Councilor Song said, "I hope this ordinance will ensure that students in the Daejeon area use personal mobility devices more safely," adding, "It will help prevent related accidents through systematic safety education."
The ordinance is scheduled to be finally approved at the 3rd plenary session of the 281st extraordinary meeting on the 12th.
