President Yoon Suk-yeol attended the Overseas Regional Meeting of the National Unification Advisory Council (NUAC) on the 10th and urged, "Please protect the future of our country with the power of freedom against the anti-Republic of Korea forces in our society who sympathize with North Korea's propaganda and agitation."

That afternoon, at the Unification Dialogue with NUAC advisory members from the Americas held at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, President Yoon said, "The people must have a firm belief in the value of freedom."

President Yoon expressed gratitude to the NUAC overseas advisory members for leading unification public diplomacy as civilian diplomats. He emphasized, "Pursuing peaceful unification based on liberal democracy is a sacred duty commanded by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea to the president and the people."

President Yoon stated, "When our belief in the liberal democratic system is firm, the message of free unification toward the North Korean people can also spread bigger and stronger," adding, "I will devote all efforts to bringing forward a free and unified Republic of Korea."

He continued, "We will inform our future generations of the new dreams and opportunities that free unification will bring, and accelerate domestic and international efforts to improve North Korean human rights," explaining, "Close solidarity and cooperation with the international community are important to realize the vision of free unification."

Advisory members from the Americas proposed the 'Korean Peninsula Free Unification Forum,' which connects with local institutions and organizations, and unification education programs for the next generation of unification residing overseas.

Kim Cheol-soo, a defector and advisory member of the Toronto Council in Canada, emphasized the need for a communication channel where overseas North Korean defectors can unite and interact, and called for defectors to actively contribute to advancing free unification.

The event was attended by Kim Kwan-yong, Senior Vice Chairman of NUAC, Tae Young-ho, Secretary-General, and over 730 advisory members from 20 regional councils in 25 countries in the Americas. From the National Assembly, Kim Seok-ki, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, and from the Presidential Office, Shin Won-sik, Director of the National Security Office, and Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, were present.

The Overseas Regional Meeting of NUAC was held under the theme "A Free, Peaceful, and Prosperous Unified Republic of Korea." The purpose was to enhance the understanding of overseas advisory members about the August 15 Unification Doctrine announced by President Yoon and to expand international support. This was President Yoon's third attendance at this meeting since his inauguration.
