Lee Gangdeok, Mayor of Pohang, participating in the 'Youth Cyber Gambling Eradication' relay challenge.
This challenge is a campaign launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in March to raise social awareness about the dangers of youth gambling and to encourage public participation.
Mayor Lee stated, "Recently, illegal online games targeting youth, such as cyber gambling, are highly addictive and have a significant risk of recidivism, so they must be eradicated. Pohang City will also work harder to raise awareness about the dangers and harm of gambling and to prevent it, so that young people can grow up in a healthy environment."
Mayor Lee joined the challenge after being nominated by Kim Seongsu, Mayor of Haeundae District, on the 2nd, and Choi Daeho, Mayor of Anyang, on the 4th. He, in turn, nominated Jeong Jangseon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Woo Beomgi, Mayor of Jeonju, and Hong Taeyong, Mayor of Gimhae, as the next participants.
The relay challenge allows anyone to participate by nominating up to three next participants, even if they are not specifically nominated, and by uploading a certification photo of their message on social media.
The challenge will continue until September 17, which is the Day for the Elimination of Gambling Addiction.
