Call for Book Reports and Letters from Jungnang-gu Residents, Students, and Workers until September 13
30 Winning Works Selected... Included in Jungnang Literature and Eligible for Submission to the 44th Presidential National Reading Contest Seoul Preliminary Round
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the "26th Jungnang-gu Reading Contest" until September 13 to establish a reading culture in the daily lives of residents.
The contest, organized by the Saemaeul Library Jungnang-gu Branch (President Yoo Byung-do) and sponsored by the district office, is part of the "Reading Jungnang" project. It contributes to establishing a reading culture that encourages active reading based on autonomous reading and writing.
The contest is divided into five categories: lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school, high school, and university/general.
Participants can submit works written as book reports or letters conveying their feelings to family and people around them, with the theme being free. However, book reports are encouraged to focus on topics related to sustainable development and environmental protection.
Book reports should be written on 200-character manuscript paper: approximately 6 pages for elementary school students, about 10 pages for middle and high school students, and about 12 pages for university/general participants. Letters should be within 2 pages of A4 paper.
All works must be handwritten, and each person can submit only one work. Anyone who is a resident of Jungnang-gu or a student or worker in the area can participate. Completed works can be submitted by visiting the Saemaeul Library Jungnang-gu Branch inside the Jungnang-gu Community Center or by mail.
After screening, a total of 30 works will be selected as award winners, and the results can be checked on September 27 on the Jungnang-gu Office website.
The awarded works will be included in "Jungnang Literature" around December and will qualify to be submitted to the 44th Presidential National Reading Contest Seoul Preliminary Competition.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "I hope this reading contest will further activate the reading culture," and added, "We will continue to expand 'Reading Jungnang' to create an environment where it is good to read books anytime and anywhere."
