Pianist Im Yunchan Collaborates with Renowned Conductor Paavo J?rvi

December 18 at Seoul Arts Center
Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 Collaboration

Pianist Lim Yunchan will perform in collaboration with the renowned conductor Paavo J?rvi.

The concert planning company Vincero announced on the 9th that on December 18th, Lim Yunchan will collaborate with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, led by the Estonian conducting maestro Paavo J?rvi, at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

The Kammerphilharmonie will open with the overture from Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni," followed by a collaboration between Lim Yunchan and the orchestra on Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2. This piece uniquely blends Chopin's delicate pianism with the sweetness and passion of Romanticism. After the majestic first movement, the second movement features a tender melody, leading into the bright and joyful third movement. J?rvi and the Kammerphilharmonie will conclude the second half of the performance with Mozart's final Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter."

Since 2004, J?rvi has served as the artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, solidifying the orchestra's identity. He also holds the position of music director of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and is the founder and artistic director of the Estonian Festival Orchestra.

J?rvi is recognized as one of the most acclaimed conductors today. In 2019, he was named Conductor of the Year by Opus Klassik and won a Grammy Award for the Sibelius Cantata with the Estonian National Symphony. In 2015, he received the Artist of the Year awards from Gramophone (UK) and Diapason (France), and was honored with the French Ministry of Culture's Order of Arts and Letters for his contributions to French music. That same year, he was awarded the Sibelius Medal for promoting Finnish composers' music to the public. In 2013, he received the Order of the White Star from the President of Estonia in recognition of his contributions to Estonian culture.

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie was selected as the Orchestra of the Year by Opus Klassik in 2024 and by Gramophone (UK) in 2023.

Before the Seoul performance, Lim Yunchan, J?rvi, and the Kammerphilharmonie will perform at the Art Center Incheon on December 17th, followed by a concert at the Daejeon Arts Center on December 21st.
