Opposition Party Says Moon Has "No Right to Speak" on "Unprepared President" Remarks

"No Sanctuary Before the Law... Moon Jae-in and Lee Jae-myung's Temporary Shield Alliance"

Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized former President Moon Jae-in and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for saying to President Yoon Suk-yeol that "an unprepared president has taken power, causing chaos in the country," stating that "they have no right to say such things."

At a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 10th, Floor Leader Choo said, "The five years of the Moon administration were five years of chaos." He added, "The income-led growth policy that destroyed small business owners and small and medium-sized enterprises, the nuclear phase-out policy that destroyed the nuclear power industry ecosystem, the real estate policy failure that caused a housing price crisis, the era of 1,000 trillion won national debt, endless double standards, the submissive North Korea policy, and the weakening of the Korea-US alliance?there is no end to the chaos of the five years under the Moon administration."

Floor Leader Choo expressed regret, saying, "It is very unfortunate that they do not reflect on their own shortcomings that led to the regime change in five years but instead criticize the succeeding administration with impudence." He added, "Former presidents and opposition party leaders are claiming daily that investigations against them are political retaliation and political oppression." He continued, "However, neither former presidents nor opposition party leaders are exempt from investigations," emphasizing, "Saying that investigations into already revealed corruption allegations should not be conducted or should be covered up simply because they are former presidents or opposition party leaders is not judicial justice. There can be no sanctuary before the law."

He said, "The public knows well that former President Moon and Lee are not on good terms," and pointed out, "Nevertheless, as investigations and trials against them approach, they have formed a temporary shield alliance in the face of common judicial risks." He added, "Political tricks and agitation that deny the national judicial system for their personal interests are things that national leaders should never do."

Earlier, on the 8th, former President Moon and Lee met at Pyeongsan Village in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, and reportedly spoke about the prosecution's investigation into Moon's family, saying that "an unprepared president has taken power, plunging the country into chaos and increasing anxiety, causing great concern among the people."
