The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will invest 43.9 billion KRW this year to improve ventilation systems in the kitchens of 99 schools across the province.
On the 10th, the Office announced that it will conduct a research project to improve school kitchen ventilation. The research will be carried out by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Sungkyunkwan University. The foundation will study a ventilation system capable of complete purification and monitoring of indoor and outdoor air in kitchens with automatic control, and propose ways to apply it to schools.
Based on the research results, the Office plans to establish a mid- to long-term plan and produce a Gyeonggi-style ventilation improvement manual to be distributed to schools.
Starting this month, the target schools will be selected, and construction will take place during the winter vacation.
In relation to this, the Office will hold the "Final Report Meeting for the Research Project on Gyeonggi-style School Kitchen Ventilation Improvement" on the 11th at the main auditorium of the Southern Office Building. The meeting will share the progress and outcomes of the research project, followed by a Q&A session and comprehensive discussion.
Gal In-seok, head of the School Meal Health Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Based on this policy research, we will develop a Gyeonggi-style ventilation model that can be immediately utilized in the field," adding, "We will actively promote the expansion of the Gyeonggi-style ventilation model so that kitchen workers can work in a more comfortable and safe environment."
