Gwanak-gu Launches Comprehensive Measures for a Healthy and Comfortable Chuseok

Comprehensive Measures Focused on Five Key Areas for Residents' Safety and Convenience
▲Medical ▲Disaster Safety ▲Transportation ▲Cleaning and Other Resident-Related Fields... Operation of Situation Room to Alleviate Resident Inconvenience

Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is starting a solid holiday support plan to ensure that residents can have a comfortable and enjoyable Chuseok.

From September 13 to 19, for seven days, the district will implement a comprehensive Chuseok plan prioritizing residents' safety and convenience, divided into five key areas: ▲livelihood ▲traffic ▲daily life ▲safety ▲and establishment of public service discipline.

First, to respond to emergencies occurring during the holiday period, the district office’s comprehensive situation room and disaster safety situation room will operate 24 hours a day.

In areas closely related to residents’ daily lives such as ▲medical care ▲disaster safety ▲traffic ▲and cleaning, task forces will be activated to prevent administrative gaps and work to resolve residents’ inconveniences.

Among the five key areas, the most important in ‘livelihood’ is price stabilization, for which a ‘Price Countermeasure Situation Room’ will be operated. During the holiday period, it will monitor price trends of holiday seasonal goods and promote price stability and sound distribution order by receiving and reporting unfair trade practices.

Additionally, to ensure that workers who sweat on site can have a generous Chuseok holiday, payments for public construction and materials will be completed, and thorough management will be conducted through subcontractor monitoring to prevent any unpaid issues.

The district has also prepared measures for the ‘underprivileged’ who find it difficult to celebrate the holiday. Even during the Chuseok holiday, real-time safety monitoring of high-risk single-person households will be conducted through IoT-based single-person household care services. An emergency contact system will be established for elderly people living alone and persons with disabilities who have difficulty moving, and customized support for beneficiaries will be promoted through social welfare centers.

In the ‘traffic’ sector, a traffic situation room will be operated to cope with the increased visiting vehicles and traffic complaints due to returning holiday travelers. Flexible enforcement of illegal parking will be applied, suspending enforcement within limits that do not hinder vehicle flow and pedestrian movement, considering residents’ traffic convenience.

Furthermore, the Gwanak-gu Office’s affiliated parking lot and two public parking lots (Samsung-dong 1st Public Parking, Seowon-dong 1st Public Parking) will be opened free of charge to contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district.

In the ‘daily life’ sector, the health center’s medical guidance center will provide information on ‘open medical institutions and pharmacies.’ On September 14, 16, and 17, an emergency medical team at the health center will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to prepare for any medical service gaps.

During this Chuseok holiday, garbage disposal is prohibited for three days from September 14 to 16, and waste disposal will be allowed from 6 p.m. on September 17. The district will operate a cleaning countermeasure situation room and a special task force to promptly resolve garbage collection complaints so that residents can enjoy the holiday in a clean environment.

In the ‘safety’ sector, forest path safety guards will patrol safety-vulnerable areas such as major parks and Gwanaksan forest trails during the holiday to ensure residents’ safe leisure activities. Special inspections of various safety-vulnerable facilities such as construction sites and multi-use facilities will be conducted before the holiday to accelerate efforts to create a disaster- and accident-free holiday.

District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “As we welcome the great national holiday of Chuseok, we will do our utmost to implement the comprehensive Chuseok plan so that residents can temporarily put aside their busy daily lives and enjoy joyful time with their families.”
