iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10 Announced
Tim Cook: "iPhone Designed for AI from the Start"
Apple unveiled the iPhone 16, its first iPhone equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) features, on the 9th (local time).
On the same day, Apple held a product launch event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, USA, where it announced the iPhone 16, AirPods, and the new Apple Watch Series 10.
Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the iPhone 16, saying, "This product was designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence," adding, "It symbolizes the dawn of a new era."
The iPhone 16 is equipped with the new A18 chip. A new camera control button was added to allow users to take photos and access camera functions more easily. An action button was also introduced, enabling features such as voice memos, music recognition, and translation. The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch display.
The iPhone 16 incorporates Apple Intelligence. AI can edit notes written by users and create desired emojis or original images. When searching for photos, even if the user does not know the location or date, AI can find the photo by describing it. It can read and provide summaries of email inboxes. Additionally, the voice recognition service Siri now supports more natural conversations and can perform complex tasks.
Apple Intelligence will be available as a beta version next month. English will be prioritized initially, and next year, more languages including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish will be supported. The release date for Korean has not been announced.
The iPhone 16 will be released on the 20th. South Korea is included among the first wave of launch countries. Prices start at $799 for the iPhone 16, $899 for the iPhone 16 Plus, $999 for the iPhone 16 Pro, and $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The newly unveiled Apple Watch Series 10 is about 10% thinner than previous models but has a display that is 30% larger. It uses titanium material, which is lighter than aluminum. The release date is also the 20th, with prices starting at $399.
