Last Month End, Former Lover Filed Complaint at Gangnam Police Station
Heo Woong Recently Cleared of Quasi-Rape Injury Charges
Professional basketball player Heo Ung (31, KCC), who was recently cleared of sexual assault charges by the police, has been revealed to have filed a countersuit against his ex-girlfriend for false accusation.
According to Yonhap News on the 9th, attorney Bu Ji-seok, who is representing Heo Ung legally, filed a complaint against Heo Ung’s ex-girlfriend, Ms. A, for false accusation at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station at the end of last month. Heo Ung’s side also plans to file a complaint against Ms. A’s lawyer as an accomplice.
Ms. A filed a countersuit against Heo Ung in July, accusing him of quasi-rape and injury after Heo Ung sued her in late June for attempted extortion and threats. Ms. A claimed that she became pregnant after being forced into unwanted sexual intercourse during a dispute with Heo Ung at a hotel in Seoul in May 2021, which also resulted in damage to her dental laminate. However, the Seoul Suseo Police Station, which investigated the case, found insufficient evidence to prove Heo Ung’s guilt and decided not to prosecute him on the quasi-rape and injury charges earlier this month.
Previously, Heo Ung’s side submitted a complaint to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, stating that Ms. A had threatened to expose Heo Ung’s private life to the media, social networking services (SNS), and his team from late May 2021, demanding 300 million won. The police sent Ms. A to the prosecution on the 16th of last month, finding her charges credible. Heo Ung’s side also accused Ms. A of drug use and filed a complaint against her for violating the Narcotics Control Act, but the police decided not to prosecute on that charge.
Heo Ung and Ms. A met through an acquaintance in 2018 and dated for about three years. However, police investigations revealed that after their breakup, Ms. A conspired with acquaintances to continuously extort money from Heo Ung.
Meanwhile, on the 9th, Heo Ung’s agency, Key Player Agency, stated, "We have confirmed through recent police investigation results that the police have decided not to prosecute Heo Ung on the quasi-rape and injury charges." The agency added, "We sincerely thank the fans and the public who have been concerned about this incident, and we are truly grateful to everyone who has continued to support and encourage us despite everything." The agency further promised, "Heo Ung and Key Player Agency will strive to show a more mature and responsible attitude moving forward."
