Matthias Bechtle, President of Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated this in an announcement email titled "A Thank You Message to Our Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicle Customers" sent that afternoon. President Bechtle said, "We sincerely offer this voucher as a token of our gratitude for the unwavering trust and support our customers have shown to our brand and electric vehicles," adding, "Detailed information and additional guidance will be delivered via text message later."

Mercedes-Benz Korea began selling electric vehicles domestically in 2019, and it is estimated that approximately 19,500 to 20,000 units have been sold to date. Therefore, if a voucher worth 300,000 KRW is provided to all Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle owners in Korea, the total amount is estimated to reach up to 6 billion KRW. This move by Mercedes-Benz Korea is interpreted as a decision made in consideration of the safety concerns and negative public opinion regarding the brand following the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle fire incident that occurred on the 1st of last month in an underground parking lot in Incheon.

President Bechtle introduced that along with providing the voucher, Mercedes-Benz operates a dedicated "Electric Vehicle Care" hotline 24/7 year-round and offers free vehicle pickup and delivery services for the first special free inspection reservation. He also mentioned plans to introduce a service where professional personnel will visit customers directly upon request by electric vehicle owners.

Additionally, he added that the scope of free inspections has been expanded to include all electric vehicle models, including an in-depth inspection of the high-voltage battery system. Previously, Mercedes-Benz Korea announced that it would lend new E-Class sedans free of charge for up to one year to victims of the Incheon electric vehicle fire and donate 4.5 billion KRW to the affected residents on a humanitarian basis.
