Ulleung County Holds 2nd Ulleung Idea Box Achievement Presentation

Ulleung County in North Gyeongsang Province held the performance report meeting for the second cohort of Ulleung U-BOX (Idea Box) on the 6th.

The U-BOX 2nd cohort report meeting, consisting of 10 teams and 40 employees, aimed to discover policies that will shape the future of Ulleung County.

The themes for each team covered various fields, including tourism (Star Island Science Center, Smart Tourism Platform, etc.), environment (expansion of reusable containers), transportation (eco-friendly mobility), design (public design), and economy (public office). A variety of policy proposals were presented on this day.

The judging panel consisted of 15 members, including the Ulleung County Mayor, members of the Ulleung County Council, local correspondents, and heads of regional organizations. They discussed the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed policies through Q&A sessions, focusing on evaluating creativity, practicality, and the positive impact on Ulleung County.

County Mayor Nam Hankwon stated, "Through Ulleung U-BOX, it is very meaningful that employees are developing the ability to actively participate in policy planning and implementation, creating better policies for the residents," and added, "We will make every effort to ensure that the discovered ideas are not just proposals but are realized as major policies of Ulleung County through thorough follow-up management."

First launched in 2023, 'Ulleung U-BOX' was designed to foster a culture of discussion and research based on voluntary participation by employees and to strengthen their work capabilities.

Ideas proposed in the first cohort, such as the creation of a national garden, installation of an urban-type cable car, and development of public housing sites, will be promoted to be included in the comprehensive development plan of the Special Act for Supporting Distant Islands like Ulleungdo and the 5th Island Comprehensive Development Plan.
