SME Research Talent Matching Day Held
About 100 Participants Including 40 Promising SMEs and Science and Engineering Graduates
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 10th that it will hold the 'SME Research Personnel Matching Day' at Jinsudang, Jeonbuk National University to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggling with recruiting research personnel.
For SMEs to secure continuous growth momentum, technological innovation is an essential factor. However, despite increased investment in research and development, the shortage of research personnel capable of carrying out these tasks is becoming severe. Accordingly, starting this year, the Ministry has selected regional Research Personnel Innovation Centers to match SMEs with research personnel, linking them from conducting R&D projects to employment, and plans to cultivate and supply customized research personnel tailored to corporate demand.
This event serves as a starting point for matching SMEs with research personnel, focusing on broadening the understanding of excellent local SMEs among outstanding talent and providing opportunities for mutual meetings. Research personnel matched with SMEs will have the opportunity to experience R&D roles through R&D planning tasks before their employment is confirmed. Once employment is finalized, support for R&D project expenses will be provided, and companies with outstanding dual performance can receive up to 50% of labor costs supported through linkage with the research personnel support project.
Kim Woo-jung, Director of Regional Enterprise Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, “In the era of global technological hegemony, cultivating and supplying excellent research personnel needed by regional SMEs is of utmost importance,” adding, “The Ministry will continue to strengthen policy support to enhance the technological competitiveness of regional SMEs.”
