Follow-up Work After Selecting the Preferred Negotiation Partner for the Czech Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant
Daewoo E&C announced on the 9th that it has expanded and reorganized its nuclear power division as a follow-up to being selected as the preferred negotiator for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant project in the Czech Republic.
Daewoo E&C's nuclear business is led by the Nuclear Business Group within the Plant Business Headquarters. Previously, the nuclear organization operated as '2 existing teams + 2 TFs (New Nuclear TF Team, Nuclear Design TF Team).' Through this reorganization, the structure has been refined into the Nuclear Design Team, Overseas Nuclear Team, Domestic Nuclear Team, Nuclear Execution Team, and SMR (Small Modular Reactor) Team. Additionally, a new Czech Nuclear Power Plant Preparation Team has been established.
According to a report by the Korean Nuclear Society, the European Union (EU) plans to build a total of 100 new nuclear power plants by 2050, emerging as a market leading the nuclear renaissance.
A Daewoo E&C official stated, "Through this expansion and reorganization of the Nuclear Business Group, we plan to successfully carry out the Czech nuclear power plant project and use it as a foothold to actively expand our entry into the global nuclear power market scheduled for the future."
The newly established Domestic Nuclear Team will be responsible for sales not only for new domestic nuclear power plants but also for nuclear decommissioning, radioactive waste disposal facilities, research reactors, accelerators, and other nuclear utilization facilities, based on Daewoo E&C's strengths and achievements across the entire nuclear lifecycle.
To discover new growth engines, the SMR Team was established, targeting the global market valued at approximately 600 trillion KRW.
Daewoo E&C participated in the development of SMART100, the world's first SMR standard design acquired by South Korea in 2012 as part of the Korea Electric Power Corporation consortium. Through this, the company has secured priority rights in construction-related business areas for future projects involving SMART nuclear power plants.
