Military Intranet Restricts Access to Photos of Soldiers and Members
The Ministry of National Defense has taken action against 'Deepfake sexual crimes' led by Vice Minister Kim Seon-ho.
The Ministry announced on the 9th that since the 29th of last month, it has been operating the 'Deepfake Sexual Crime Response Task Force (TF)' with Vice Minister Kim as the team leader. The TF has identified 24 victims related to deepfake so far. It supports these victims in reporting to the police and has connected them with organizations that assist in deleting false video materials.
Additionally, the Ministry of National Defense is providing integrated support including counseling, medical, and legal assistance to protect victims. They plan to complete deepfake sexual crime prevention education for all soldiers and military personnel by Chuseok.
Earlier, to block the possibility of misuse for producing deepfake sexual exploitation materials, the military authorities made photos of soldiers, military personnel, and public officials confidential on the intranet (internal network) starting from the 5th.
