SPC and SKT Collaborate on AI Integration... Order by Voice on Happy Point App

AI-Based Service and Retail Solution Joint Development
"Adopting ICT Technology, Leading F&B Trends"

SPC Group is embarking on service innovation using artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with SK Telecom.

SPC Group's IT and marketing solutions subsidiary, Sectanine, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SKT on the morning of the 9th at T Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, to promote comprehensive cooperation based on AI technology.

Through this agreement, the two companies will mutually cooperate in four key areas: ▲ service and business/partnership collaboration using AI technology ▲ development of B2B solution products for retail stores ▲ marketing partnerships and improvement of membership app usability ▲ formation of a task force (TF) to discover joint business opportunities.

First, SKT’s AI technology will be integrated into SPC Group’s membership service, Happy Point application, enabling voice-based ordering and payment, as well as analyzing various customer data to recommend optimal personalized benefits, providing an innovative AI experience.

They will also promote B2B business cooperation targeting retail stores by combining SPC Group’s franchise operation and management capabilities and know-how with SKT’s B2B infrastructure. They plan to jointly develop a ‘FaaS solution’ that includes smart retail systems such as store and inventory management systems based on AI analysis, and automation of store operations and customer experience to improve operational efficiency. The business will be expanded to provide services not only to brand stores operated by SPC Group but also to other franchise companies.

The two companies will also pursue linking their membership services (Happy Point, T Membership) to offer customers AI-powered personalized services and benefits. They will explore various cooperation methods to enhance customer convenience and benefits, such as providing membership benefits from both companies simultaneously with a single barcode and introducing a ‘unused coupon reminder’ function.

The signing ceremony was held with key officials including Heo Hee-soo, Vice President in charge of SPC Group’s digital transformation (DT) business, and Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SKT.

Heo Hee-soo, Vice President of SPC Group, said, “Through the capabilities and know-how of SPC Group and SKT, leaders in their respective business fields, we will provide customers with a more innovative and differentiated AI experience,” adding, “SPC Group will continue to actively introduce innovative ICT technologies including AI into its business to lead future trends in the F&B industry.”

Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SKT, stated, “This collaboration will be a meaningful case of successful AI transformation through synergy between leading companies in each field,” and added, “We plan to provide customers with a more advanced AI experience by expanding the ecosystem through the application of SKT’s advanced AI technologies and services, including A. Dot.”

Meanwhile, in addition to this MOU, SPC Group is leading food tech trends by showcasing various attempts to integrate innovative ICT technologies into the F&B business, such as launching Baskin-Robbins ice cream products using Google AI Gemini in collaboration with Google, introducing AI NPD (new product development) systems for Samlip and Baskin-Robbins, and implementing product recognition AI scanners at Paris Baguette.
