The distance between Yongdae 1-ri in Buk-myeon and Seohung 1-ri in Seohwa-myeon, Inje-gun, near Baekdamsa Temple in Gangwon-do, has been shortened by 15 km, reducing the usual travel time from 22 minutes to 7 minutes, a 15-minute cut. Inje-gun announced that it has completed the construction of the East-West Green Peace Road Inje section (County Road No. 3) and will open it from September 12.

Since 2017, Inje-gun has invested a total project cost of 25.7 billion KRW, including 17.9 billion KRW in national funds, to complete a 4.53 km two-lane road connecting Seohung-ri (Nonjanggyo) in Seohwa-myeon to Yongdae-ri (Jeongjamun) in Buk-myeon. Guide lines for driver safety and convenience were installed at intersections along the section to enhance safety.

With this road expansion and opening, the travel distance between Seohung-ri and Yongdae-ri has been reduced by about 15 km, and travel time shortened by approximately 15 minutes, greatly improving traffic conditions.

In particular, this resolves the inconvenience that residents of the Seohwa area had to travel through Wontung-ri in Buk-myeon and use National Route 46 to reach nearby areas such as Sokcho and Goseong. It is expected to facilitate smoother exchanges between Buk-myeon and Seohwa-myeon regions.

Additionally, with the formation of a transportation network connecting tourist sites in Naeseorak such as Baekdamsa Temple and Sibiseonnyeotang, as well as border areas, it is expected to aid in fostering the tourism industry and revitalizing the economy.

An official from Inje-gun stated, “With the opening of County Road No. 3, we will expand the living area of the border region and promote tourism by linking nearby tourist sites. We will do our best to expand a comprehensive transportation network that facilitates convenient movement for residents and tourists.”
