Choo Kyung-ho expresses concern over "judicial risk shield alliance buildup" in Lee Jae-myung and Moon Jae-in meeting

Choo Kyung-ho "Democratic Party's Agitative Politics Worsen"

Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, on the 9th, regarding Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the National Assembly, and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visiting former President Moon Jae-in, pointed out, "Even if the truth about various suspicions surrounding Leader Lee and former President Moon is revealed through investigation and trial, I am deeply concerned that this might be a judicial risk shield alliance buildup to deny and reject the results."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Choo said, "I am curious why the Democratic Party leader and the Democratic Party-affiliated Speaker met the former president one after another at this particular time. The Democratic Party's agitational politics denying the judicial system of the Republic of Korea is becoming increasingly serious."

He stated, "The behavior of the former president of the Republic of Korea, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the leader of the main opposition party coming together to unite in political agitation denying the judicial system of the Republic of Korea must be stopped," and "As I have repeatedly said, President Moon Jae-in and his family should sincerely comply with the investigations and trials against them. As President Moon himself said in the past, just follow the law as it is."

Supreme Council member Kim Min-jeon also pointed out that while the president can have a party affiliation, the Speaker of the National Assembly cannot, and requested Speaker Woo to maintain political neutrality. Kim criticized, "Considering that the Speaker visited the house of a former president designated as a suspect and said he 'is concerned about the appearance of the prosecution,' one cannot help but question whether (Speaker Woo) is aware of the neutrality required of the Speaker," adding, "The Speaker of the National Assembly is not a position to receive greetings from members but a position that must maintain neutrality."

Meanwhile, Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho criticized the Democratic Party's plan to forcibly pass the Local Currency Act and to re-vote on the '250,000 KRW nationwide livelihood support payment,' saying, "There is growing concern that the promises made by the leaders of both parties to cooperate for the people's livelihood in the regular session after their talks are rapidly cooling down due to 'Leader Lee Jae-myung's command-driven rampage.'"

He also referred to criticism from Kim Dong-yeon, governor of Gyeonggi Province affiliated with the Democratic Party, regarding the '250,000 KRW nationwide livelihood support payment,' adding, "I hope the Democratic Party regains the image of a democratic party that courageously accepts internal criticism."
