Cheonan City in Chungnam is promoting the paid parking system for the attached parking lots of Cheonan Sports Complex and Cheonan Citizen Sports Park, following the implementation of paid parking at the city hall parking lot. Basic plan for paid parking at Cheonan Sports Complex and Cheonan Citizen Sports Park attached parking lots.
On the 9th, Cheonan City in Chungnam announced that it will implement paid parking at the annex parking lots of Cheonan Sports Complex and Cheonan Citizen Sports Park, following the paid system already in place at the city hall parking lot.
The parking lots to be converted to paid use include eight annex parking lots such as the main stadium of the Sports Complex, Yu Gwansun Gymnasium, solar parking lot, and the National Sports Center, as well as three annex parking lots at Citizen Sports Park, totaling 1,437 spaces.
The annex parking lots at the Sports Complex and Citizen Sports Park, which are set to become paid, were originally established to promote the use of sports facilities. However, they are currently suffering from chronic parking shortages due to abandoned vehicles, long-term parking, and vehicles of nearby shop users and travelers occupying the spaces.
The city plans to begin with a feasibility study for the paid parking system, followed by detailed design and construction next year, aiming to implement the paid system in the second half of the year.
A city official stated, "Through this feasibility study, we will gather public opinion and review the amount and location of parking towers to be installed, as well as consider free parking hours based on the usage times of the sports facilities."
